Re: tilt trim problem!!

Do you hear the relays 'click' when activating the switch?
If not, either relay(s) gone or you do not have power to the relays.
Check with a multimeter on the thin green and blue wires going into the relay socket.

If you have no 12V into the relays, thin green or red depending up or down, check the trim switch in the handle, loose contacts in extension cables etc. Into trim switch: red - 12 Volt, out from trim switch green or blue.

Only one fuse on the engine, if starter cranks, it is ok.

i checked the trim switch on shifter and it works from there.the switch on the side of the motor must be bad.but it still does not move up or down like if is stuck or something.when i hit the switch to go up or down i hear the trim motor.it hasnt moved up or down in 6 years.

Re: tilt trim problem!!

If you hear the trim motor running, then it might be:
1: No oil in the unit?
2: The release valve is not tightened or leaking?
3: Internal problems in the unit, and the whole unit must be removed from the engine!

Yes. Be careful, only 1/2-1 turn! Port side of the bracket, a slot marked 'RELEASE'.
