any difference?

between the 1959 and 1969 johnson 50? my library only has a shop manual as far back as 69. just wondering if anyone knew any major differences i should look out for. thanks

They are both called Johnson and both claim 50HP. That is it.

What JB means is that all those two motors have in common is the brand and the HP. Everything else is different.

Post your questions on that Fat-Fifty, and give us a chance to answer them.

gotcha! i went over it today and got it to turn over so the electrical works. it's a fuel issue. the two sparkplugs on the right side were pretty fouled. i couldn't get it to run, but it sounded like it wanted to. i sprayed starter fluid into the carbs and closed the choke. still nothing. any ideas on what to do? this has been sitting a while so any advice is appreciated!

Krull, If I remember correctly the left carb barrel feeds the right two cylinders, and vice versa. Make sure both sets of points are clean and gapped to exactly .020 The points are 90 degrees apart, so look for the second set when the window on the pulley is near the block.
