I got a 4.01 Avon RIB and bought a Yamaha 15 HP 4 Stroke short shaft to replace the old Nissan 15 HP 2 stroke. Problem is that the Yamaha is a short shaft and it does not go down far enough. My problem is that I live on a desert island in the middle of the pacific, and engines are hard to come by. Is there a shaft extension kit that I can buy for this engine? Has anyone here every used a transom extension? Or, last resort, cut a piece out of my transom. Any ideas?

Thanks.

You have the same engine/rib tech problem encountered as with mine, transom extension are used to place long shaft engines on short sib/rib transoms, have a complete post on the theme : If in need of extra information, simply post.
