Hydrofoils and holes...

Hi all. So my new/old 20 hp has four evenly spaced, drilled holes in the cavitation plate where I assume a hydrofoil was attached at some point. I'm toying with the idea of putting a foil back on (especially if I can get the holes to line up), but I'm not sure if it would really make any difference. It will be pushing a 14' starcraft style, runabout tinny converted to a fishing boat with usually just one or two people. It currently gets just shy of planing with the 10 hp I have now with just me in the boat, so I'm pretty sure the new/old 20 will take care of the planing issue, but perhaps the foil may help it get on plane sooner? If I don't get a hydrofoil, do I need to fill the drilled holes in? If so, with what? Thanks.

just leave the holes unless you get a lot of spray up. You may just go to an auto store and get some plastic snap buttons that fits (small type), install with the flat head down.
