Hello All,
I've done quite a bit of research on this, but wanted to seek some help from some experienced boaters. I recently acquired a 2008 Larson 240 Cabrio. The engine has less than 10 hours on it, and the boat was kept sitting on a basketball court trailered for 2 years untouched. I am preparing to have the boat up and running. The most important thing I figured was to remove the old gas in the tank. I plan on pumping out the old gas and adding a stabilizer like STP to some new gas. After that I planned on hooking up some flushers to the water intakes and turning the engine over. Of course general things like engine oil, and belt tightness and loose connectors will be checked before turning the key. My question is what else should I check before starting this boat? I can basically check and diagnose most things you would have on a car engine. Any and all advice and input would be greatly appreciated, no matter how obvious it may be. Thanks in advance. Also, I sure hope I posted this in the correct section, as my post pertains to any part of the boat I should be concentrating on, not just the engine!

Re: 2008 Larson 240 Cabrio help

Sounds like a nice boat!
Hopefully it was securely covered and engine properly winterized...

I bought my Current Stingray and it was on blocks for exactly 2 years without use. How much gas is in your boat? I just filled the rest of my tank up and added some additives to help the old and turned the key. Check the standard oil and ensure their is Drive oil in it. Also make sure all the plugs/ hoses are re-connected from the storage (winterization).

One caution, when you get it running intially you'll want to keep a close eye on the temp gauge. Keep watching until it warms up. They overheat quickly if something's not right. I agree with gto, if there isn't much gas in the tank fill 'er up and let her rip.

Thanks for the replies! The boat wasn't wrapped, but had the bimminy top and enclosure covering it. There was antifreeze in the water system, and the main drain plug was removed. Also, it had electric hooked up to it the whole 2 years. As for the amount of gas. By my estimates there is about 20 gallons in the 84 gallon tank. Thanks for the Temp gauge tip!
