HELP - How do I find out what year my Thunderbolt 850 is?

I recently purchased a older boat (Crestliner Muskie) that has a Mercury 850, trying to find out information about this motor before attempting to put it into service. I've been doing searches all over the internet and looking at these forums but I can't seem to find the right link to put in a serial number to determine year. The Serial Number is 3877491, from my research so far I believe it is a 70's mercury but I want to be sure which one to get the right manual for servicing and maintaining this outboard. I know there are many out there with years of experience I would like to tap into in order to get the best results with my outboard. Thanks in advance, Jim

It shows up serial number 3877491 as a 1974 Mercury 850 model
