Re: Leaded gas??????

No longer available and never was necessary. The lead was for octane improvement and valve cooling. Use standard 87 octane.

Re: Leaded gas??????

Gas issues were pretty screwed up in 1974, jtrom.

94 octane leaded gas is no longer available. Lead was and is bad for outboards and high octane never was really needed. It is just that what else was available was pretty bad.

What many of us did was use the 80 octane unleaded "white" gas sold by Amoco for lanterns, stoves, outboards, etc. The white gas worked fine but wasn't available everywhere. Coleman still sells it (BIG markup) in cans for lanterns and stoves.

What is currently recommended is 87 octane unleaded.

Re: Leaded gas??????

Here is the exact text from the manual : " Use a "regular" leaded gas or a "premium" leaded gas not less than 94 octane. "
