Folks,
fried the regulator/rectifier on my engine a few weeks back when a friend turned the batter kill switch with the engine running. I replaced the part with a new OMC unit and system starting charging fine once again at 14 volts measured on the volt meter and also on me fishfinder.
A day later I went to use the boat again and am now only getting a max of 13.4 volts at 4,000 RPMs. I only get a reading of 12.7-13.00 at RPM range of 2500-4500. Does this seem like my new regulator/rectifier is a dud, or perhaps my battery just needs to be replaced? The magnets on the flywheel and the contacts on the stator looked OK when I pulled the flywheel.
Could a bad ground cause the low voltage? I am confused
