Hi just wondering what is the reason behind the gap tester set to 7/16 on #1 cylinder during Joe reeves method of wot timing. What purpose does it serve. Thank-you

Just curious what the 7/16 gap does for the procedure.

BC that's the min. gap the CDI ignition should jump. If it doesn't, you need to troubleshoot.

The 7/16 gap does nothing for the WOT adjustment, but if no spark at that gap-setting, your ignition system does not give out the power it should. It will need above 30KV to jump that gap.
Another thing is that some 'cheap' timing lights gives erratic readings if the voltage gets to low in the plug lead.

Hi, dont go out and buy a spark tester,, if you look at my post from last week you will see how easy and cheap it is to make one,, and for the record,
Joes,s timing method is excellent, my motor runs great after using it,.
