I am trying to get my old Jetflite back in the water to take my grandson boating but my old Merc is giving me fits.
I have two engines, one is a '69 and the other is a '70 model year.
I bought the '70 for the power trim hardware to install on my '69 which I have done.
I took the first lower unit to a Merc shop to reinstall the shift shaft as I do not have the tools to remove the prop shaft etc because there is a clip from the shift shaft that has to be removed.I pulled the lower unit to service the water pump.
They cannot get the lower unit apart without damage so I removed the lower unit from my other engine and the shift shaft pulled out on that one too.
I know the stuff is old but it is about the only thing holding me up from floating my boat. What have others done in this situation. Thanks,Ron G
