total power lose after it warms up

We have a 86 Imperial. We just put a Chevy 350 in it. Runs great! We take it to the lake yesterday. Put the kids out on the knee board. All is well. About 15mins later I had it full throttle and lost power rapidly then in stalled and wouldn't start for a few min. My husband is done with this boat. Sick of working on it. But its my baby. Can anyone help

Sounds like you are out of gas.... Or at least your carb is anyway......

Check fuel filters (don't forget the one in the inlet on the carb), check the fuel pump, check the fuel lines...

Try opening the fuel fill cap when this happens and see if it will start back up -- if so, your tank vent is probably blocked.

How long did the tank sit with gas in it before you got the new engine in? The anti-siphon device (looks like a simple adapter on the tank that allows you to connect the rubber hose -- its actually a neat little device with a couple of springs and a check ball in it) could be frozen or sticking, the pick-up sock in the tank could be covered in varnish or other debris..

You could try running it from an external tank to eliminate any tank related issue..

Check the little line going from the pump to the top of the carb -- if there is gas in there, replace the fuel pump...

2 new fuel filters and 2 wires swapped on the distributor and walllaaaa! Its fixed. Thank you! We have some folks we met here at camp and also have a older boat. Tell me.... what would cause water in the lower unit of the outdrive(where the oil is)? they have to constantly change the oil because they collect about a cup of water every 2 days. Ideas??
