Re: shifting reversed

Your 180 out take it back down and turn the shaft until you feel the prop locks in one direction in forwards spins freely in the other direction. In neutral it spins freely in both directions and in reverse it locks in both directions. After you find these three things are correct, set you shifter in neutral, and your LU in neutral. and you almost ready to put it back together. Check to see that your cam lock on the shifter shaft, not the drive shaft is in prospective order as such. when in forwards with the prop locking in one direction and spinning freely in the other, the cam at its lowest point is facing the dead center part of the LU facing the bow. Next when in neutral the cam lock should be at the mid way point between the high and the low spot on the cam facing the center of the LU towards the bow. Lastly In reverse with the prop locked in both directions, the cam should have the highest point of it facing center of the LU towards the bow. read this several times while doing the steps I have given you. Then you will be ready to replace the unit. Again I stress the shifter MUST BE IN THE SAME POSITION AS THE LU WHEN REPLACING IT OR YOU WILL BE DOING IT AGAIN AND AGAIN!
