Hey guys im new to the site so bare with me. I recently purchased a 97' Bluewater "speedboat" with a volvo 3.0GS MLKD motor and today on the lake it over heated to the point of the motor shutting off. (terrible i know) 
well i got towed back to the marina and saw that the oil was a little low so i filled it up and started the motor only to hear a knocking of the valves.
What could be the problem?
Bad water pump caused it to over? Valve job needed after low oil? etc
Im a little lost and dont know where to begin the fix
