Rocker switches on the side of my Johnson 40hp tiller

I have 2 rocker switches on the side of my 1991 Johnson outboard. They are located on the sides of the engine on either side. One is black and the other is white. The black one has a label on it like <--- --->. What are they?

Could be an auxiliary power trim/tilt switch so one person can lock the towing bracket into place after retrieving.

Have you looked at the manual or tried pushing the switches?

I'll be taking it out for the first time on Saturday. I can see if it's related to the power trim/tilt then. Thanks!
