1988 mercury 115 hp auto blend removal

Is there anything on the motor that must be disconnected when removing the auto blend system or do i just toss it and use premixed 50:1 fuel. I have read horror stories about destroyed motors. I already have the system off the boat.
Any advice is much appreciated......

....you just need a fuel line from the tank to the water separator, then a hose with a ball to the engine......good to go!
