Sticky Throttle lever

The throttle lever on my 1989 Maxum is really sticky. Sticky from forward back to neutral and sticky neutral to reverse. Hard to tell when you are in neutral. Makes it tough thrusting back to stop while landing or approaching a dock. Is this an easy fix/change out or is it complicated.

Any help or adivse is appreciated.

Have you adjusted your throttle friction screw on the remote control? It may be too tight...
