I have had a bit of engine trouble the past 2 times out on the lake. I have a late 80s 40hp Evinrude VRO. The beeping started signaling an oil blockage. I disconnected the oil side pump/vro, and mixed gas 50 to 1. The motor starts and runs for about 30 seconds at 2-3,000 idle, while in neutral, and then stalls out. I can get it started again with starting fluid but then kills out about 30 seconds later. I assume the fuel side or carb needs cleaning or rebuild? I now think maybe the oil side may be OK? Any info would be appreciated. A week before this started, the motor ran fine, I stopped for about 40 minutes, and then struggled to get it running. Only stayed running by squeezing the fuel bulb periodically. I appreciate any input. Thank you,
