I just repowered my boat with a new volvo/penta 5.7ltr fuel injected engine (320hp). What weight oil do i use? It spends all the time in the pacific ocean. Northwest. The water temp is between 48 and 58 degrees most of the time. The air temp is 45 to 70 degrees during the summer where it's mored. I was always told to run straight 30w for these conditions. I got twenty years of service from the original motor. The manual calls for an assortment of grades depending on the conditions. I just finished with the break in process and need to get the break in oil out of it.
