I'm having a hard time finding a carb kit and impeller for a 1951 Evinrude 14HP (modal 4441). I've never had an problem finding parts for Johnson/Evinrude motors but this one is taking its toll. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Okay the carb kit should be available at Sea-Way Marine or Engine Blade and Prop. As far as the inpeller goes, that should be available at any OMC dealer, because it's the same one used in 10hp 1949 - 57, 14hp 1950 - 52, 15hp 1953 - 56, 18 - 25hp 1957 - 76

Thanks, I checked with Sea-Way Marine and was informed that they no longer carry the carb kit for this motor. I'll Try Engine Blade and Prop

EDIT: Just got off the phone with Engine Blade and Prop; the only thing they have is the bowl gasket.

Thanks again, for your help. If you have any other suggestions please let me know. :)

Yea, I can understand that. Oddly enough, the old 4441's were built with the Tillotson carburetor, versus the later style OMC carb. It may take a bit of searching to get a kit. One thing you'll notice, the mounting to the intake manifold is 90 degrees off, from an OMC carb too. The low speed setting on these are 1/8 - 1/4 turn out from lightly seated and the nigh speed is about 3/4. I think if you get the bowl gasket and clean the carb up really good, it'll run fine for ya. The coils are the typical universal type, that all OMC twins take from 1951 on.

I had one of these motors years ago. Sea King used the same powerhead on their 12hp direct drive models. It's basically a larger wedge motor, kinda like the old Sea Kings 5's were. They seemed underpowered to some users, but that was their nature. I think properly tuned and cared for though, they're good motors.

They didn't build one in '52, because they were completely re-designing the Fastwin model. They re-introduced the Super Fastwin 15 in 1953 and it was the same basic design, through 1956. That old 14hp was only built for 2 years (1950 - 51) but it was the first Evinrude model built (1950) with a full shift lower unit and remote tank. Johnson debuted a year earlier (1949) with the full shift and remote tank on the old QD-10, 10hp. A year later, (1951) Johnson and Evinrude each came out with their 25hp models (Big Twin and RD) and those were the second OMC models introduced with full shift lower units.

Fix that old gem up and make it nice. They're pretty rare now.
