warning module

have continuous solid beep on 1989 90 hp mercury,tapped on warning module beeep stopped,tapped on module again solid beep started again,would that be a good indication of a bad warning module? would module have bad connection inside even thou module is solid piese ? thanks in advance

If i remember correctly,mine had 8 bad solder joints in it.saved me around 180 bucks by fixing it myself:)

i kept dipping mine in boiling water and digging the potting compund out

back to my original question can anyone truely say that the warning module is faulty,has anyone run into ahything like that,tapping on it makes it stop beeping

The warning module grounds the alarm circuit, as does the overheat switch on the head. You could tap in that area also to isolate the module as the culprit.

What the posters are saying is it isn't surprising that you would find tapping on it sets off the alarm, given what we've seen by opening them up.
