I have a 1971 100hp that stopped running. There is no spark when cranking except occassionally a single spark when turning the key off after cranking. Am I correct in thinking that would indicate the ignition coil is ok and by process of elimination the amplifier is at fault? Is anything else a likely cause? I will try the light bulb test for the amplifier when I have a chance. Points are set correctly.
Where is a good source for a replacement amp if required?
Thanks Ken

The fact that it sparks after cranking makes me think the the amp is not getting 12 volts while cranking. I'd look at maybe a bad ing. switch.

Or low voltage when cranking. Bad battery, connections or cables??
