2008 25hp Merc problem

A buddy of mine has a 2008 model year (just out of warranty) 25 hp (model F25ELPT) that after running for about 5 minutes sets off a constant beep and cuts down to very low rpms. The red oil light is also on, but the oil is nice and clean and up to level. The cooling system seems to be spitting out a nice steady stream of water as well.

Any ideas of what I should be looking for??

That red light says low oil preasure, and is limiting rpms. I have seen some threads about early senser electronics failure. Check the oil presure switch connection. I would squawk at mercury for sure.

A faulty sensor would make a lot of sense. Do you happen to know where this sensor may be located?
