OK, I am either really unlucky or this is just the norm for being a new boat owner! 1998 Larson, just had a reman' engine put in (350 5.7L V8) then had low RPM's. Turned out to be timing and needed a new ignition module. All is good, so today I take it out, start hearing a noise when cranking over engine. It starts fine, revs great with no noise at all, 38MPH at 4200 RPMS no problem, no noise at all. Turn it off and start it again, clanking when turning over. It turns over so fast and easy that it is hard to hear. Sounds like a grinding noise, one time sounded like a steady clanking with each turn, sounds like air pushing. Hard to pinpoint. Once it starts, like I said, its great. Its while in the TURNING over state that I her this crazy noise. any ideas? BTW, I had a new starter put in a3 weeks ago.

Ya what franktrav said. Also, there is a metal cover for the ring gear that may be loose and contacting something. Also, boats are like sports cars, always needing something! Stick with it, at some point all will be well and you can just enjoy your boat!
