I aquired a boat with 8 year old gas premixed with Yamalube 2M. I drained the fuel out, and checked the tank a fuel lines, I saw no obvious issues from the old fuel. The fuel itself appears to be fine. Is it possible the premixed fuel would remain good for that long?

THANKS TO ALL OF YOU FOR YOUR SAGE ADVICE.

Re: Old premix

Don't use it!...Save it to pour on yellow jacket nests or similar uses. Install a fuel/water separator type canister filter on your transom to catch any water/trash/debris that may still be in the fuel tank or lines.

Re: Old premix

it cant even smell like gas anymore, dont even consider using it in any combustion engine, and at the very least, install a filter (see thru) as close to the motor as is possible . (hopefully your carb isnt gummed up, but if it starts....with new fuel, a splash of seafoam in the tank might be a good plan)

Re: Old premix

I would suggest you now have fuel for the lawnmower...... I would not risk running it in an outboard if it is questionable at all. think about what is worth more money..... a mower or an outboard.
