1981 70hp 3cyl Merc Burps and farts

Engine doesn't idle very well and continues to spurter but NO back fire.
It has new fuel 50:1
New plugs
What else can a person do to rectify this situ?

The beer goes in the people, not the motor! :)

I would clean the carbs.

x2. Clean the carbs. Also check out the entire fuel system from the tank (vent, pickup), through the hose, fittings, primer bulb, to the pump and filter.

Hmm, I wonder what the out pressure of the pump should be???
I have a different tank and a different feed line and bulb...
Incidently I had a fuel line break durring our first outing and after that is when the sputtering began....

I have read these fuel pumps only put out something like 3-5psi.
