120 hp oil leak

Have a 1984 120 hp Mercruiser. I bought it new. Last couple of years there has been oil in the bilge after a run - not much but enough that I want to fix it. It does not leak while sitting. I have looked at every area I can see trying to determine source but have not found it. My guess is a rear seal. Any suggestions for finding leak before I remove engine this fall and change rear seal?

If the bilge does not take on water when running the boat, I would put down a couple of sheets of white absorbant pads under the engine and take it for a run. When done, pull the pads and see which area from the engine the oil is coming from. I had the same issue, it was coming from my oil dipstick connection into the oil pan. Good luck!
