Hey All I am new here and New to boating. I just picked up a 2000 Bayliner Capri 1950
last week.

While looking at the front of the engine I see a small plastic container with looks like green oil in it towards the front of the engine. Which I think is Geat Oil?

Farther back by the Transum I see another plastic container Could that be for Hydraulic fluid? And this is very low.

Sorry for the completely newbi question.:facepalm:

Yes, the green lube is Hi Performance gear lube.

May be the trim tilt pump, could even be a trim tab pump. Hard to say without seeing it.

Here is a link to a 2001 owners manual, perhaps it will help you ID what you have.

Re: NOOB Question - Mercruiser 3.0 Gear Oil & Hydraulic Oil

Thanks for the reply and the link to the maual! That should help!

In the maual it says;

"Add Quicksilver Power Trim and Steering Fluid or SAE 10W-30 motor oil, if required, to bring level to bottom of
filler neck. Replace cap."

I'm wondering if it's okay to mix motor oil with power steering oil? or maybe it needs to be drained and use one or the other?
