I have an AQ271C volvo penta engine/outdrive. My trim/tilt is not working and the outdrive is stuck in a postion where the boat will not plane. Is it possible to lower the outdrive by hand to get the outdrive in a postion to get the boat onto a plane? Want to use the boat until I can figure out the trim/tilt issue.

Not exactly sure what model outdrive I have. It is a duo-prop, believe 1987 I have misplaced the owners manual, and the boat is not where I can access the out drive right now.

Let's try this, which type trim pump do you have?

Ok, you stated the trim/tilt was not working, did it make any noise? No noise, Solenoids click, motor run but nothing move, motor start and bog things like that?

The click is from the engine compartment, right? Does it click both up and down?

Check on both of the solenoids on the trim pump. There should be a red wire going to both solenoids. Is there battery voltage to those terminals? If not, trace back toward the battery until you find out why the power stopped. Also check the grounds.

Ok, tested the power to the Solenoid. Appears to have power to it. Also tested power at the connection coming out. The green and blue wires going to the motor. When the switch was ingaged, power was showing there also. Is is possible for power to pass through the solendoid if it is bad or does this mean the motor is bad?

If you have power coming out of the solenoid when it's engaged, and the ground for the motor is good, it may be you have a bad motor.

Re: Trim/Tilt Question

I read on some other posts related to this topic that you can direct wire to test the motor. Would this also be possible in this situation. I believe the steps were to disconnect the motor, and run one wire to the neg battery terminal, and one to the positive correct?

That won't work on your setup, you have a 3 wire motor, not a 2 wire.
If the ground wire (black wire) is grounded properly and you put power to either the green or blue wire going to the motor, it should run.

Re: Trim/Tilt Question

Thanks for again for the help. I will see if I can get the motor to run directly. I will also check the ground.
