I have a '95 Seaswirl 220 Deckboat with an OMC/Volvo Cobra 5.0 EFI Stern Drive (model 50FAPHU). It will not start and only makes a click from the starter assist solenoid when the key is turned. I used Don S' How to: Troubleshooting your engines starting system (thread 167035) successfully to determine that the starter assist solenoid was bad (the test light did not light when touching terminal B with the key turned). The original OMC starter assist solenoid is part #3853839 and when ordered from an on-line dealer, I was sent a replacement part, Evinrude/Johson Part #985063 solenoid. The problem is that the replacement part does not have the smaller stud at 3 o'clock (the C stud using Don's lettering), but looks similar and has the other three studs at the 12, 6, and 9 o'clock position. Is this truely a replacement part and if so, how do I wire it - what do I do with the wires that went to the C stud on the original assist solenoid?
