hi everyone i just purchased a 1989 23' marathon and im having trouble identifying the motor and drive.
the motor is a I-4 and the valve cover says mercruiser 165 the model number is mcm165 and its a 224 cid no serial number and looked around on here with no luck. next the drive serial number is oB855519 any ideas?

please i need help because i need to order parts

my base seems to have some pressure build up what may be the causes?
i know the causes of my outdrive issues but i dont have a clue which outdrive i have are there markings on the drive unit?

Ayuh,... Yer motor is known as the 470, 'n yer drive should be an Alpha 1...

BTW... sounds like the 470, which went by a few different models, I have the 3.7, same beast. Is an Mercruiser aluminum block, mated to a cast iron Ford head. One of a kind engine not ever used in a car or truck. Do some searchs on here for the 470, there should be several pages on em.
