Here it is the end of July and I've been on the water twice the entire summer. And both of those times were more trouble than they were with. Blah...

What a year it's been, a cold and WET spring that still has local rivers (Missouri) flooded. (The stench alone will keep you from wanting to go near it.) Local lakes are still full of floating trees as well as "other" things. Smoking hot temps (heat index over a hundred) for the last three+ weeks.

Yeah, I went out a couple times just to cruise around, and dinged a prop for my trouble, but actually get in the water to enjoy it? No way. Every boatable body of water within a hundred miles has health/safety (bacteria) warnings issued on it.

For a guy that loves boating, its been a crappy summer... :(

The weather everywhere has been horrible. Here in Northern Illinois we just set a record for rainfall in July. I know your area of missouri had huge floods in the spring. Hopefully we get back to normal (whatever that means nowadays)

That does suck, but actually, SBL may be on to something. Here might be a good chance to update or repair anything in your boat that needs it. Since you really can't use/enjoy it, you're really not missing anything. Go for an extensive engine tune up (don't forget lower unit lube, prop shaft seal, water pump, compression test, carb rebuild, etc), maybe add some electronics, repair any upholstery issues, add a new stereo, gelcoat repairs, wet sand/buff/wax, etc. Just get it ready for excessive use next season.
