I'm sure this is a question that is quite often asked but I didn't just want to jump in an old thread and ask questions so I started my own.

I have a '91 Javelin fish/ski w/ a Johnson GT100. Anyway there are 2 linkages running from the throttle control to the motor. The top linkage is the shift linkage, and the bottom linkage is for the throttle. just recently my motor wouldn't shift into gear, and a noticed that the outer sleeve of the linkage had become unscrewed from it's position on the bracket.

Now that I have fixed that the control will go all the way in reverse, but only about an inch or so into forward, but when I push in the neutral button the throttle can be fully oped in both directions so I figured something is wrong with the shift linkage.

Any suggestions?

and thanks ahead of time for the help
