Steering ?

I recently got a '71 MFG Carefree with a 33hp Evinrude Ski Twin. I was at a local marine shop today and was informed that the cable steering is not legal after a certain hp. Does anyone know if this is correct and if so up to what HP is cable steering legal? Thanks

Huh never hear that but I would not go above a 50 hp with cable steering with pulley system

Never heard of such, but even so, that 33 will be fine, so long as the system is set up and maintained correctly.
