2000 3.0 runs ruff at high rpms

i have a 2000 3.0 volvo and have had it in the shop for over a month. cant get it to run smooth at high rpms. rebuilt the carb did compression test did leak test changed plugs cap wires. still cant get it to run right help

Have you checked the timing? Maybe it isn't advancing properly.

yes , the motor is also very loud in cockpit. it makes a loud popping noise at high rpms.
