I am rebuilding my carbs on the 55HP Evinrude (76) and was just curious if you folks used any kind of thread sealant on the bolts on these?

Don't think that would be a good idea. Just torque the mounting nuts down and don't overtighten the bowl screws.

Thanks. I know the carb mounting bolts have lock nuts so not worried about those but the bowl screws kind of may me think that vibration might be a reason to use thread lock. Normally I don't use it on small motors like mowers but just wanted to be sure.

Don't do it, can break down and wind up clogging something, just torque to specs.

Yep.....don't do it! I have found bunches of Teflon tape stuck in carbs, and also hydraulic systems.......bad stuff....
