Engine Info:
2000 Volvo Penta 5.0 GI PEFS, serial # 4012001712. Transom Assembly TSK SX-M 4111632520, Drive Unit DP-SM 1.95 4112092365
Steering Problem: Over the past year, the steering cylinder has developed two distinct noises and its become progressively louder. First, from the return line (off the cylinder, back to the pump)?sounds like an air leak when I turn the steering wheel. (Sounds like a hissing sound). Over the past month, the steering cylinder itself squeals when I turn the wheel. Performance itself is perfect?.the noises are just annoying and I know will ultimately lead to failure. Before I try to get a shop in the middle of the summer to diagnose and fix, I want to get some feedback from the forum on ideas and options I should pursue.
I have tried to attach a picture. The hose on the right, is what I think to be the hissing noise.
Any Help would be appreciated
