i have purchased an old elgin. the id tag on the tiller describes it as a 1954 6 horse i believe. but i believe it is not correct. the rope pull is on top and not a recoil type. is does have sears on a name plate where the rope pull is. the tank is two tone green and has elgin written out in type letters not in script form. there is also no gear shift on the side opposite of the tiller handle. i am new to this and just wondering if someone out there has some ideas as to the year , horsepower and any other info on this motor . i am just getting started and this is my second motor, first one is a disaster.
