I bought a new alternator for my boat that has a 5.8L Fi and after i connected it up just as the old one was I have no power at the ignition when i turn the key. The old one had a jumper wire from the POS terminal to the S terminal. Is this normal? I am fairly knowledgeable about engines but this has got me stumped. Any help or reccomendations would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Re: no power to key after changing alternator

Think we figured it out. We are pretty sure its the 60AMP circuit breaker in the charging system. We took a volt meter to the entire charging system and everything checked out. So we pulled away the solenoid and found the circuit breaker and bridged it with a screwdriver and everything kicked on. So were gonna replace that and that should take care of it. Hopefully!
