I am buying a 200 20hp mid 70s Mercury off ebay...ideas?

Really nervous about not seeing this running or test. I am paying $1000 including shipping from WI to TX. Photos of pee hole in action and motor looks good. Your ideas? And is a 20 hp the same power head as thye 25 hp? Thanks

Did you already purchase the Motor? Pretty Steep price. That's 350.00 dollar motor in my neck of the woods MI.. not seeing it running and not checking compression and lower end lube? I would not buy it.

That motor probably sold for $1000 brand new back in the70's.

No. it sold for 350. brand New then.
Take that back, bought brand NEW 20 1978 merc tiller longshaft for 550.

I'm certain then, I am getting snookered. I already gave my word to the guy so now it's my costly mistake. I'll let you know how it ends up. I just thought since my 1981 Johnson 9.9 hp is selling for $850 here, a price the marina repair guy said was reasonable, I thought $150 more for the 20 hp was in the ball park. I won't tell my wife what you guys said Haha!
