I am working on a 1968 65 horsepower Johnson. In the parts diagram it shows a seal part number 0308073 under the top cover of the water pump. I could not find a place for this seal to fit in properly is it glued to the cover or ?

retired.wrench, I believe that is your water pump seal that presses into the bottom side of the impeller housing cover. The cover is often sold with the seal already pressed into place. The seal also comes as part of a water pump rebuild kit. I've found it best to apply a very light coat of Scotchweld 847 to the OD before pressing the seal in. 847 is used in place of the now-obsolete Sealer 1000 that was recommended for your motor by OMC.
