1968 6hp evinrude fisheman

Any suggestions on a 6 hp evinrude that will run for a minute or two and then shutdown like it's out of gas. I choke it and it starts and it will run for another couple minutes. Thanks for any help/suggestions.

sounds like it needs a carb overhaul. has the motor been stored for awhile?

Had a problem like that, only when the motor was in water, out of water it would run allright. It ended up being a head gasket, when in water it would fowl the one cylinder. out of water it would run fine. could also be the carb. not an expert so just something to look for.
