1996 Johnson 88 special . Lower starboard cylinder spark plug shows light tan to black crusty deposits on the electrode. the other three are clean with maybe a little more oil residue then normal, but they might just be about perfect. I was told by a mechanic that cylinder on the crossflow controls the pulse for the fuel pump so I probably have a bad fuel pump. Carbs are clean, just went through them again and all are good and rebuilt. So...replaced fuel pump and boat ran about the same, maybe a slight miss coming out of the hole but runs up to 5600 great and idles ok. Have to advance throttle lever to start her about 50 % of the time. Could this be an ignition problem? All seems good from the fuel delivery side. Deposits are not salty and dont think its metal. Going to check compression but any thought are welcome.
