Researching Abandonded Properties

There is a house and a couple of acres, abandonded near me that I would not mind getting a hold of. Nothing special, but I could use it as a rental, or home for MIL and use it's pole barn, to store the backhoe.

I can look up the tax/plat information on line. It's show delinquent taxes, list the owner names, etc. but does not yet have any mortgage holder information, etc. It's not listed as a Sherrifs sale, etc. as of yet.

Are there any other ideas for sources of information, to help dig info on this or other properties?

Town Clerk or who ever sends the tax bill should have that info.

If you have the owners info, contact them and see if they are interested in selling the property. That would be your starting point.

The house is abandonded. The owners name and address is listed, where the abandoned house is physically located.

This one is likely gone any way. It appears that the next-door neighbor paid the 2009 taxes, in a tax sale, last year, but had ot paid this year's yet. The property is not in his name.
