1989 150etxf Fuel pump issue?

All.

I just dropped the boat in the water 2 weeks ago and the first day i couldn't get above 2k rpm.. Just sounded like it was starving. I have plans to remove the carbs and clean the jets but pushing it to winter since i got in so late. I ran some fuel cleaner in a pony tank and Seafoam Deep Creep in the carbs. Sat.. Soaked.. then run. It ran like a champ around 41k with some roughness. I assumed i fouled the plugs. So today I went down to clean them and this time when pumping hte primer ball i heard the gas shooting into the carbs. The ball no longer holds when i prime before starting. So it looks like I cleaned more than the carbs out. What is best bet replacing the diaphragms or the entire pump. Obviously my local Yamaha dealer wants pumps but what is really goig to be different if I change just the diaphragms.

If diaphragms were bad you'd be pumping directly into the crank case. Coming out the carbs is stuck open floats

bob.. on all of the carbs? i pumped it today and heard it pouring in.. when i tilted the motor up to check it spilled out of the top 4 carbs .. maybe the bottom 2 but i dropped it again..

well thats a different answer but one that i could assume. my grady dealer is more than willing to throw parts at me.. i havent worked on an outboard a lot so i am guessing on this. wheres my holly 4bbl 350 when i need it..

i see the main jets on the side of the bowls.. can i clean those w.o dropping the carbs?

i forgot to mention this..

* when i was out running the other day .. if i choked it up the motor comes alive.. so i just assumed it was clogged jets and dirty..

* today when i was done it did not idle anymore.. just slowly died.. i was unable to idle the other day after my run with the fuel cleaner as well.
