Hi All,

My 30 yr old (800 hr) 350 Chevy/Volvo is out of the boat.

Any thoughts on what to change/check before installing?

I replaced the rusty oil pan...

Any way to check freeze plugs?

THX!

Replace the primary drive shaft bearings and seals in the flywheel housing.
Freeze plugs are brass and shouldn't be a problem.

Thanks for that Don...I'd planned to do that. Brought my bell housing over to the boat dealer, and a good mechanic...who I've known since '79 said "oh these bearings are fine...no play, no sound...you kept 'em well lubed"

....would you have 'em changed anyway?

Wonder if there is any old hard grease chunks in there. It is 30 years old. Have you owned it since new? Did the previous owners keep them lubed? The only way to replace them is pull the engine.
