Hard Steering

Hey everyone, new to the site so just wanted to say hey..
Now for my question,, I have an 2001 Aquatron that is hard to steer. I have been looking at the forum and saw where people were saying to remove the shaft, clean it real good and regrease it. My question is what type of grease do you use, can you use the same grease you put in the wheel bearings or is there a certain type. Any info would be great...

I have seen several posts that said you cannot lube those steering cables, but that you just needed to buy a new one.
