I just bought a 1977 Ranger with an Evinrude 115 on it. The boat has been really neglected by past owners. The guy I bought it from yanked the dashboard & tried to fab a new one. He hooked up the steering wheel & mounted the speedometer, but left everything else just hanging. The control box with ignition is intact, except for the trim buttons on the throttle knob, which is easy to replace. I just want to know; Can I run this engine barebone? I don't want to go through all of the trouble of rewiring everything. All I really need is the ignition, throttle & the steering wheel. All the rest is just extra. I can get a switchbox & wire up everything else, like the trolling motor, pumps for the livewells, lights, etc. I might just seal off the livewells & use bubble boxes in them at first. I just want my boat on the water before the end of the summer.
