Hello Gents,

My dad took the grand kids crabbing on Saturday and my nephew pulled the key out of the ignition and handed it to him....he did not notice until today that somehow he pulled the key out of the ignition but turned the key to the run position. After he charged his battery up, he has been unable to start the engine, which has been otherwise flawless for years..it is a 2001 150OX66...aside from the winter in the Keys when the check valve between the engine filter and VST tank stuck closed....any thoughts on what it may be..I am worried that he burned up a fuel pump or other expensive parts....

Thanks!

It should not have hurt anything as far as I know, but maybe someone that knows that motor will chime in
you will have to give more info for troubleshooting as unable to start does not say much.
Checking fuel pressures would be my 1st thought

Maybe check your emergency/lanyard cut-off switch?

Well dad is having sea tow tow him over to the avalon point marina..Minmar told him they could not look at it for 2 weeks...we checked all of the obvious stuff....safety lanyard, fuel supply (replaced weak ball), filter is full, engine mounted filter is full..engine just spins..this have been a roar to life on the second crank engine all it's life...thanks for the replys..I will let you know what the mechanic says just to close the loop and continue our education..

If it turns over then i would definitely be looking at fuel pressures and spark to see which is the problem

Hold onto your hats guys.......dad dropped off the boat..the mechanics out a tester on the battery and it tested low..they charged it up and the engine fired right up...even though the fuel gauge read 12.2 volts....

If voltage gets too low when cranking motor over things do not work very well.
Sounds like a very expensive battery recharge

Had issue with my 99 S150 not starting but turning over. Battery was to low.
