I have read a number of past posts regarding the use of a puller to remove flywheel, but am having trouble loosening the bolt that holds it down. Not sure whether it is a reverse thread or comes off counter clockwise. Trying to hold flywheel with strap wrench is difficult.

Any suggestions would be welcome

Re: Flywheel removal for 6.5 Johnson

The flywheel nut is regular threads, not left handed. It shouldn't be that hard to remove----hopefully noone put locktite on the threads....
If you have access to a 3/4 impact socket and an impact wrench, that SHOULD do it easily.
BTW, I didn't think there ever was a 6.5hp johnson. Did you mean a 5.5? :)
Good luck,
JBJ

Thanks for the help. Will put the impact wrench on it. I think the motor is a mid 90's model and it is a 6.5 hp.

Please give us a model number, John. Like JBJ, I have had no knowledge of a 6.5 Johnson. Could that be some other brand??
