took out my pontoon and decarbed it now the only way to keep it running is to hold my hand over the carb and let less air in. when I did this it ran great in high speed if I let off it would foul out as it seemed it was getting to much gas .I tried to adjust the carb but to no avail can anyone help??
I did replace the gas tank and hose

if you hold your hand over the intake then you are causing the mixture to richen...that means either you carb is fouled up with gunk and blocking the jets or your fuel pump is going bad. May also be your fuel filter. What happens if you pump your primer bulb while the engine is running at high speed? When is the last time the was rebuilt?

Your immediate problem is a fuel delivery problem, which can have a number of causes, such as:
. air leak on pump suction side (bad clamp, cracked hose, cracked tank pickup tube, etc., etc.)
. malfunctioning anti-siphon valve
. plugged tank vent
. trash blocking tank pickup screen
. plugged fuel filter
. collapsed fuel line
. check fuel pump output by taking off outlet hose and cranking engine over (make sure it can't start). You should see long, strong pulses of fuel. If not, pump is bad.
or as mentioned above, the carb needs cleaning.
